Yunia Irawati, MD
Yunia Irawati, MD, has been working for JEC and Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (FKUI) – Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), since 2004. She completed her study as a medical doctor in 1992, and her ophthalmology residency in 2003, both from the same university, which was University of Indonesia. Dr. Yunia had the opportunity to join a program as an observer at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and Singapore National Eye Center in 2007. She underwent adnexal and orbital fellowship at Seirei Hamamatsu Hospital, Japan, under supervision of Dr. Yasuhisa Nakamura and Dr. Nobutada Katori.
After finishing her fellowship, Dr. Yunia continued working as a consultant, training medical students, residents and clinical fellows at FKUI-RSCM and JEC. She also has a vast experience in eyelid surgeries, both reconstructive and aesthetic, orbital fractures and socket reconstruction, and lacrimal excretion system surgeries. She is also a cataract surgeon, contributing regularly for charity cataract surgeries, as well as a LASIK surgeon. These special skills of hers have led her to be trusted by her patients in order to help them have a better vision and beautiful eyelids. Therefore, she serves as the Head of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Division at Department of Ophthalmology UI – RSCM and Head of Ocular Trauma Service at JEC Eye Hospitals. She is the current President of Indonesia Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (INASOPRS). She is also active in the Asia Pacific Ophthalmic Trauma Society (APOTS) and member for the Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (APSORPS).
She is often invited to be a guest speaker and actively participates in giving scientific presentations and workshops in national and international events. She writes books for educational purpose and publishes both national and international journals. Besides, since dr. Yunia Irawati, SpM(K) has big interest in leprosy, she also leads a leprosy team, KATAMATAKU, which consists of doctors who specialize in ophthalmology, dermato- venereology, medical rehabilitation and orthopedics. As a Lecturer, she does her best to dig the potential in carrying out Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education comprising Education, Research and Community Service).
